 large wall mirrors

Our large wall mirror make a perfect over mantel mirror and come in our Art deco style and Mackintosh style designs.
We also do variations on our designs if you had a different colour idea to match your living room.
And if you had something else in mind we might be able to help. See Design your own page

All our mirrors are handmade in the UK. we source are lead and art film from a UK company. as well as all our glass. we are making some of our small mirrors for stock as these are often brought as presents. we make all our larger mirrors to order.

our larger mirrors are considered low profile and lightweight hanging securely on the wall using our mirror fixings which are included with your mirror.

we are often asked for larger sized and custom mirrors. we have in our stock sheets of 2x3ft (61x91cm) which we can cut to any size smaller and some shapes such as circles. orders larger than 61x91cm are possible but are on 4mm safety backed glass. this glass is heavier and subject to a 4 week waiting time. we believe our 61x91cm sheets are the best value for our customers in glass cost, crate and shipping costs. so sometimes it makes more economic sense to bit 2 or 3 sheets of 61x91 glass together than ordering a larger 4mm peice. see pic below

Catfish glass assume no responsibility for anyone's actions with a power drill.  If you are unsure, please contact a local tradesman and have it installed professionally. This guide caters for solid walls. If you are mounting onto a plasterboard / drywall then please find specialised plasterboard fixings and observe the manufactures weight limits and instructions.

Firstly, choose your spot and use a spirit level to mark your bottom bracket holes.
(Tip if you don't have a long enough level, hold your short level on a straight piece of wood)
The fixing should be spaced within the design of the mirror as they overhang the frame slightly. They should not be closer than 5cm from the edge of the mirror.
Before drilling, be mindful of any hidden cables or pipes in the wall.
Use an electronic wire finder if unsure, available at local hardware stores.
Use a drill bit suitable for the size of wall plug you are using. The recommended bit size will be on the side of the plug or its packaging. Ensure a nice tight fit with with the plug !

Tighten the bottom brackets using a suitable screwdriver, by hand. Avoid over tightening as this will break the plastic washer.
extra metal washers are included with the brackets if a tighter fit is required.  Some walls are not straight/ true and you may need to compensate for this using the washers. Do not allow the mirror to be under stress or it will crack.

Using an assistant to hold the mirror to the wall,
place the mirror on the bottom brackets and then mark the height of the mirror on the wall with a pencil.
Drill approximately 20mm or 3/4" below the pencil line

The top brackets have an elongated hole.
Dill the hole approx 20mm or 3/4" down from your line
Fit the brackets so the mark on the wall is at the bottom of the hole.
Tighten the bracket so it just allows movement up and down to fit the mirror.
Fit the mirror into the bottom brackets and push down on the top brackets to hold the mirror in place. At this point, depending on how straight and true your wall is,  you may have to use the washers or other materials to space the brackets.

Our mirrors will last years and years. We advise cleaning with a lint free cloth, using normal furniture polish and being delicate around the lead work. Ensure you use a clean cloth as a small piece of grit can scratch the mirror.
